Therapeutic Properties of
Lapis Lazuli
From Antiquity, lapis lazuli was believed to ward off evils from the wearer.
Hindus believe that if children wore Lapis Lazuli strung on gold wire it will protect
them from all manners of evils, including night frights. Egyptians wore powdered
Lapis on the eyes to improve eyesight. To ancient Sumerians, carrying a piece of
Lapis, meant carrying a piece of the Gods.
Lapis had traditionally been associated with motherhood and motherly love.
Christians associated Lapis with the Virgin Mary and Jesus. In Egypt, it was
associated with Isis and her child Horus.
Natural healers and gem therapists use Lapis lazuli as an aid to balancing
the brow chakra. This chakra influences vision and hearing. Imbalances of the
brow chakra are said to cause headaches, anxiety and disorders of the skin.
Lapis is an important gemstone in subduing an overactive 6th Chakra. This
gemstone is also believed to stimulate creativity.
